In recent years Lithium fluoride has become the most popular thermoluminescent material and is now available commercially as a microcrystalline powder. Lithium Fluoride99% , LiF, is typically a white inorganic compound, although it may appear colorless until ground into finer particles. Lithium fluoride99% is the material with the most extreme UV transmission of all and is used for special UV optics. Lithium fluoride99% thermoluminescent dosemeters (TLDs) are commonly employed for the determination of absorbed dose. LiF is used chiefly as a fluxing agent.
